Things to Do in Connecticut

You will never run out of things to do in Connecticut. Whether on land or water, Connecticut has something fun to offer. You don’t believe us? Then take a look at the possible things you can do while you are in the Nutmeg State.

First on the list is fishing. There are different places in Connecticut where you can cast a line. If you want some peace and quiet while waiting for a fish to bite your bait, go to Candlewood Lake. This New Milford lake is the biggest man-made lake (at least in the entire state of Connecticut). You can catch a bass, a trout, a walleye, a catfish, or a panfish. If you are longing for deep-sea fishes such as blackfish, bluefish, and flounder, go fishing at Long Island Sound. If you are looking for someplace a little more adventurous, go to Clinton. The Rock and Roll Charters have shark fishing tours. If you prefer river fishing, Connecticut also has a spot for you—the Housatonic.

After fishing, you can try kayaking or canoeing provided that you are still not tired of the water. Kayaking may look strenuous to some but it is not. It helps if you keep in mind that you are not in a competition. Paddle from one island to another at your own pace. Enjoy the experience. Contact the Connecticut Coastal Kayaking for a trip to Thimble Islands, which is an archipelago off the Branford coastline. Kayak tours through Thimble Islands will not only be enjoyable but educational (not to mention entertaining) as well. You learn some tidbits about the history of the place and you get to hear a legend about buried treasures.

We mentioned fishing and kayaking. If you want to stay dry while visiting Connecticut, check out the next page for the things you can do on land.
