Beaches in Connecticut

We knew it. You can’t stay dry for long. Sooner or later, you will want to spend some time in the water again. Well, forget about fishing or kayaking this time around. Let’s talk about the beaches in Connecticut. Here are our three favorite ones:

Heading the beaches in Connecticut is the Hammonasset Beach in Madison. This beach park covers about two miles of Long Island Sound. It has picnic areas and snack bars so you do not have to worry about food. You can dine on fresh seafood or garb an ice cream. Whatever your preference is, we are pretty sure you can get it from any of the eateries within the area.

If you want to go to a beach where every member of the family can do his or her own thing, head to New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park. Father can fish off the pier. Mother can relax on the sand with a good book. Big bro can do some sailing. Big sis can stay away from the harmful UV rays and hang out at the Lighthouse Park Spalshpad (which has fresh water fountains in various shapes and sizes), lastly, junior can go play with other kids on the playground or have fun at the carousel.

We saved the best for last—the Ocean Beach Park situated in New London. This beach is featured on National Geographic Traveler’s “Best Beaches” list. Although the beach itself is postcard perfect with its white sand and crystalline waters, the amenities are the ones you have to look forward to. Ocean Beach Park has adult amusement rides (not many beaches offer that), an Olympic-size pool complete with a slide (by the way, the pool is filled with fresh water) arcades, playgrounds, café, and lounge. If those aren’t enough, the beach park also has a miniature golf course. It is no wonder it is named one of the best beaches.
